Disclaimer: I received free entry to the 22nd Annual Key West Half Marathon and 5K as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review, find, and write race reviews! I literally squealed out loud and ran to hubs to tell him that I was chosen to attend the 22nd Annual Key West Half Marathon and 5K on January 19, 2020 as a BibRave Pro. My first trip to Key West was as a stop on our honeymoon back in 2014. We had an out-of-this-world time, and ever since, … Continue reading 22nd Annual Key West Half Marathon and 5K ~ 1/19/20

ZOOMA Women’s Race Series: Cape Cod (9/29/19)

New England, you hold my heart. I will forever be in love with the ocean, quaint coastal towns, and summers at Cape Cod. So when I saw that the third race in the ZOOMA Women’s Race Series was being held in Cape Cod, I nearly swooned. The half marathon and 10K will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2019 at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in N. Falmouth, MA. I can almost picture (according to the site) the sights of cozy Cape Cod neighborhoods, gorgeous ocean views, and the tree-lined roads of historic Falmouth already! This hotel has it all! … Continue reading ZOOMA Women’s Race Series: Cape Cod (9/29/19)

750, Baby!

Guys, I just hit my goal of running 750 miles in 2017! I originally started out just wanting to surpass last year’s goal of 610 miles, and I never thought I’d blow that number out of the water. And I couldn’t have achieved this accomplishment without the love and support of my family and friends. My husband, Tom, has had to endure countless early mornings, waiting for me to get back from long Saturday or Sunday runs, offering foot massages, and readying my trusty nuun water. Thank you for being my rock, my cheerleader, and my nurse.  I couldn’t have … Continue reading 750, Baby!

Marathon Training: Days 56–58

Since Tuesday (9/27) I’ve gotten in three more runs (4 miles, 4 miles, 3 miles) to make my September total 75 miles. It’s not bad, not my best, but I’ll take it! I’m also over the moon excited that I reached my $1K goal toward Team Momentum and the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Marine Corps Marathon in October. Thank you so very much again to everyone who donated. I raised that amount purely through social media, two e-mails, and a few mailed letters. Woo hoo! I’ve also been picked to be a Brooks tester, so my shoes should arrive in … Continue reading Marathon Training: Days 56–58

Marathon Training: Days 52–55

So sorry that I haven’t updated y’all since last Wednesday! Since then, I’ve completed four runs. I’ll most likely hit 75 miles for the month like I did last month, which I’m disappointed about. This weekend we went to Milburn Orchards in Elkton, MD, and the Angry Toddler had a blast with her second cousin! I’ve been listening to a new podcast called Welcome to Night Vale, which is hilarious. I honestly didn’t know it was a comedy, because the description on the site says this: A twice-monthly podcast in the style of community updates for the small desert town of … Continue reading Marathon Training: Days 52–55

Marathon Training: Days 47 and 48

7Thanks to the encouragement and support of both my husband and some online Facebook friends, I got in a ten miler on Sunday morning! We had taken the Angry Toddler to Hersheypark the night before and got home extremely late, but I convinced myself to slog through the miles. I did not pause my Apple Watch at all, so my pace includes giving a couple from NY directions, walking to eat my Gu or sip some water, and pulling my iPhone out of my hydration pack several times to start a new podcast episode of Tanis. Y’know the old adage, “You … Continue reading Marathon Training: Days 47 and 48

Marathon Training: Day 42

Today’s temps were much cooler than they have been—yay! I got in five miles during my lunch break. I tried to get into the old high school track, but it seemed to be all locked up. There’s a one-mile loop in a neighborhood near the Angry Toddler’s old daycare, so I did that twice. It was about 73 degrees out, which felt much cooler, especially in any shady spots. As always, I’m trying to raise money toward the Marine Corps Marathon and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Even one dollar counts! Please donate here. I hope everyone has an awesome Labor … Continue reading Marathon Training: Day 42
