Race Recap: Monster Mash Full Marathon 10/20/18

It’s time for my three-phrase, post-race summation! For the Monster Mash Marathon on Saturday, October 20, 2018, I’d like to use the following—solitary slog, poop (not my own), and lost Gu. Since hubs had to pick up the Mature Kindergartener (MK) [because really, she’s no longer a toddler, nor angry, and is growing up way too quickly] on Friday from school, my awesome Smyrna Clayton Running Club friend Jenn picked me up to go to packet pick-up around 3:30 p.m. (Thank you, thank you, thank you!) Jenn was running her first half marathon, so I was wicked excited to be … Continue reading Race Recap: Monster Mash Full Marathon 10/20/18

Race Recap: Fallen Heroes 5K 2018

I’d like to sum this race up in three words as I’m wont to do: geese, poop, humidity. We’ll get to that in a sec. I know it’s nearly a month later, so I first want to apologize for not writing a race review for the Fallen Heroes 5K from May 24, 2018 until now! To say that work has been crazy is an understatement, and I kind of lost my mojo there for a bit. Oh, and we were at Walt Disney World for a week. That’ll take the oomph right outta ya. Anyway, last year’s race seemed very … Continue reading Race Recap: Fallen Heroes 5K 2018

April 2018 Miles . . . and Boston?

Goodbye, April! I nailed my mileage goal again this month with 80 miles. I’m so ecstatic! I ran two long-er runs (one on-my-own half marathon and a six-miler), but otherwise I ran slow and steady each day. I think that’s part of the reason why I keep going injury free. I love running, and I listen to my body. Speaking of listening . . . throughout this month while running, I’ve listened to the Hamilton soundtrack (duh), the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack, the Running Lifestyle Show podcast, the Marathon Training Academy podcast, the Another Mother Runner podcast, the Tanis podcast, … Continue reading April 2018 Miles . . . and Boston?

Race Recap: Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Thin Mint 5K 2018

I’m going to sum this race up in three words: Rain, cold, COOKIES. On Sunday, April 15, 2018, I ran the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Thin Mint 5K in Wilmington, DE. I ran this race back in 2014 and had an awesome time! Here’s the race recap if you’re interested. I had been keeping a side-eye on the weather the whole weekend, because I knew it was supposed to rain and come nowhere close to the over-eighty-degree weather of Saturday. The location of the race also eluded me a bit, because the address was listed simply as “Lot E, … Continue reading Race Recap: Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Thin Mint 5K 2018

March 2018 Miles

As I chase my goal of running 1,000 miles in 2018, I’m trying to keep things in perspective and realistic, because, well . . . life happens! I started the year out strong by running 84 miles in January. February was abysmal at 35 miles, so I’m very proud to report that I redeemed myself and ran 85 miles in March. Honestly, I accomplished that by not running any long runs at all! That wasn’t really my intention, but I’m kind of astonished that anyone could run that many miles in a month without going over six miles tops per … Continue reading March 2018 Miles

Race Recap: atTAcK Addiction 5K 2018

I ran the atTAcK Addiction 5K on March 3, 2018, which was a day before my 36th birthday. I love running this race, because typically we have cake and ice cream to celebrate my birthday at my in-laws who live in town afterward, so I have something to look forward to after racing! Hubs, the Angry Toddler (or the AT, whom will now be known as the Angry Kinder soon), and I plotted to leave the house by no later than 7:15 a.m. that morning, since it takes us about 45 minutes to get to New Castle from where we live. … Continue reading Race Recap: atTAcK Addiction 5K 2018

Mini Race Recap: Angela Ivory Memorial 50K ~ 1/20/18

Gosh I’ve been delinquent in finishing this race review—so sorry! The Angela Ivory Memorial 50K/50-Miler was held on Saturday, January 20, 2018. This was the second year that I attended—and the second year that I had to leave early to attend the Angry Toddler’s friend’s birthday party. I’m not complaining whatsoever, because the party was a blast, and I got to ice skate with the Angry Toddler for the first time! I just feel like I still have this challenge to conquer at some point in my life. I woke up at 7 a.m. EST on Saturday morning literally bargaining … Continue reading Mini Race Recap: Angela Ivory Memorial 50K ~ 1/20/18

RACE RECAP: 2017 REHOBOTH BEACH MARATHON

I’m overjoyed to report that I completed the 2017 Rehoboth Beach Marathon on Saturday, December 2. My amazing husband, Tom, drove an hour to pick up my race packet and goodie bag for me this year on Friday, since I had to work a full day. I didn’t want to grab my race packet the day of the race, since I’m always frazzled to begin with before race day. I wrote a permission letter for Tom to pick up my bib in which I praised the race volunteers, and Linda Chi loved it so much that she read it out … Continue reading RACE RECAP: 2017 REHOBOTH BEACH MARATHON

Goodbye, Social Media

I’m surely not the only soul who’s wishing that summer would end, right? While I have loved our trips to the beach, I’m ready for cooler temperatures and more clothing coverage. I’ve run 99.9% of my runs on the treadmill this summer, although I did finally rejoin the Smyrna Clayton Running Club a few weeks ago, so that gets me out bright and early on Saturday mornings. I’m actually A-OK with treadmill running, but it would be nice to get in some runs outside so that there’s something to look at. I’m following a modification of a very simple marathon … Continue reading Goodbye, Social Media

Race Recap: Delaware Running Festival Half Marathon 5/14/17

I ran the Discover Bank Delaware Marathon Running Festival half marathon on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14, 2017. Oh, where to begin? Let’s sum this weekend up in three words: HILLS, BLOOD, LOVE. I wasn’t one of the lucky 200 participants to sign up for packet pickup the day of the race, so my family and I made a separate trip from Dover, DE to Wilmington, DE (about an hour away) the day before the race to pick up my packet and meet my PlowOn Gum family in person finally! (For those who haven’t tried Plow, I highly suggest reading … Continue reading Race Recap: Delaware Running Festival Half Marathon 5/14/17
