In a slump?

Disclaimer: I’m promoting the 2019 World Refugee Day 5K Virtual Run as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out to review, find, and write race reviews!

Do you feel like you’re in a running rut without a clear goal in mind this summer other than to beat the heat that’s swooping in quickly? I can’t be the only one! That’s why I love virtual races during the summer. I can run them at any time of day or night—outside or inside—and I don’t feel pressured to PR or pressed to compare my 5K time in the heat of the summer to what I run in the fall or winter.

I’m also a sucker for a good cause (who isn’t?!), and I’m feeling so inspired by a particular virtual race that I will have the pleasure of running with oh, over 1,000 people from the Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Uganda through being a BibRave Pro. BibRave is partnering with our good friends at Soul Focus.

That’s why I’m going to register for the 2019 World Refugee Day 5K Virtual Run (or walk, hop, jump, whatever floats your boat)! Proceeds raised by the virtual race will support refugees via the American Refugee Committee. This group provides
• emergency response services;
• health programs;
• shelter;
• water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion;
• protection against gender-based violence; and
• education (like vocational and small-business training).

So snap a selfie and share your run on social media using #WorldRefugeeDay5k #WRD5k and tagging @worldrefugeeday_5k on Instagram please anytime between now and June 20!

  1. Yay Becky! I’m happy to be doing this one with you. 🙂 I have a race on Saturday but then there’s nothing on my race agenda until the fall. I feel you on the slump-y vibes.

    1. I never used to be the type to need a race on the calendar to keep me going, but it really does help with motivation for me these days! I’m glad to be participating in this together! XO
