Marathon Training: Day 1

piyoYesterday (6/20/16) I started marathon training for the 41st Marine Corps Marathon on October 30, 2016. I’m part of MDA Team Momentum, and I’m proud to represent the Muscular Dystrophy Association! To donate to my page, please go here.

It was a rest or cross training day, so I decided to dust off my PiYo DVDs and do the Core workout. I tracked this workout using my Apple Watch workouts app. I’ve only used it for running before, so it was neat to track a different type of workout. I set a calorie burn goal of 100 calories (since I really had no idea what I’d burn), and I was nearly on the money. (Note: A day later, I can definitely tell that I worked my core!)

This week, I have three three-mile runs (Tuesday through Thursday), and another rest or cross training day on Friday.

I would love to either get an at-home rowing machine or just suck it up and get a membership to our local YMCA.
